CLL Management Plan

Corporate Lands for Learning
Program Objectives
The overarching objective of the Corporate Lands for Learning (CLL) program is to utilize the ecological setting and environmental stewardship practices of our facility to provide safe, secure, and ecologically diverse educational opportunities for individuals and groups. A primary goal of the program is to foster long-term partnerships with select educational institutions, and incorporate site features and operations into their curriculum. Another ambition of the CLL program is to provide site tours for local groups and organizations, and provide insight into site operations and our co-habitation with the surrounding physical environment.
Habitats and Facilities
The site’s natural and constructed habitats are well-used by the educational program as teaching tools and platforms for outreach. There are nearly three miles of walking trails, an exhibit garden, a classroom meeting office, and several lecture areas scattered throughout the restored ecosystems which outreach program makes use of. These restored habitats and learning faculties attract local youth, educational, and environmental groups.
Community Needs
The communities surrounding the Sanctuary share the same growing pains as other communities, including increasing development pressures associated with urban sprawl. As these pressures increase, open space within the community becomes increasingly rare and in greater demand. Given the site’s size, location, and habitats, the environmental educational programs are able to unite a diverse user group into several dovetailing programs, which serves the surrounding communities in several capacities. Not least of which is affording at-risk urban youths the opportunity to truly encounter and appreciate nature in their everyday lives.
Program Tracking & Goals
Over the next three to five years, the primary goal of the education program is to re-enforce and strengthen the relationships with our current community partners. Given their current level of success, maintaining and expanding these relations will be a key aspects of the education program. Additional goals include the installation of educational display boards and develop a brochures specific to the Sanctuary and education programs.
Each year, the site’s educational program will be reviewed and evaluated for their purpose, participation, and success. The management plan will be updated as needed to improve the quality of the site's education program.
